Dr. Pier Andrea Cicogna - Curriculum

Pier Andrea Cicogna attended a secondary school specialising in classical studies where he obtained full marks in his school leaving exams.
He graduated in Padua with honours in Medicine and Surgery and after spending 5 years at the University's Burn Centre in the Departement of Plastic Surgery, he obtained a degree specialising in Reconstructive Plastic Surgery with an investigational dissertation entitled "Phisiopathology of energetic replacement in the severely burned".
In 1991, little more than thirty years old he began his adventure in the United States, where he became a pupil of Sherrel J. Aston and Daniel Baker, two undisputed world wide leaders in facial surgery.

He spent years alongside these experts at the Manhattan Eye. Ear and Throat Hospital in New York, trying out new techniques, exploring the field of cosmetic surgery, which was then regarded as revolutionary.
An influential experience which he was to repeat many times, the most recent of which being in August 1999, where he was able to perfect the procedure of endoscopy.

His professional development continued through various encounters with famous international surgeons.
Vital to this was his attendance at the school of Ivo Pitanguy in Rio De Janeiro, a leading expert and inventor in the art of shaping the body, where he gained proof of the philosophy behind cosmetic surgery, originating firstly in Brazil and the arriving on a more radical scale in Europe as seen over the last decade.

However, as it is still the United States leading the world discoveries and developments in the field of cosmetic surgery, he returned to North America where he undertook a series of courses which proved essential in order for him to establish himself in the European market with avant-garde methodologies.

From here came the decision to go first to Dallas in 1993 to work with Sam T. Hamra, who invented composite lifting then on to Miami in 1994 alongside Thomas J. Baker, Howard L. Gordon and James M. Stuzin, all experts in "Surgical rejuvenation of the face".

Then again in 1995 he went to Nashville where he worked alongside Patrick G. Maxwell, a pioneer in mammary reconstruction and John B.Tebbets, creator of the dimensional approach to additive mammaplasty: in 1997 whilst in Los Angeles he met Jack H.Sheen, a major interpreter of the modern cosmetic rhinoplasty.

Member of the Italian Society of Plastic Surgery, both Reconstructive and Cosmetic, he works at the san Camillo hospital in Treviso, which boasts the most advanced surgical instruments, ensuring a short stay in hospital, with the assurance of specialist staff.
